Job Title: Late Stage Counselor

Job Summary:

Idaho Housing and Finance Association is seeking a skilled professional to join our Mortgage Loan Servicing department as a Late Stage Counselor. In this role, you will work directly with borrowers who are past due on their payments, providing financial education and counseling to help them avoid foreclosure and retain their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate guidance on payment methods based on loan circumstances
  • Assess loan status and borrower circumstances, offering timely and effective assistance or referrals as needed
  • Deliver HUD Counseling to borrowers
  • Review borrowers for Home Retention Programs based on loan type
  • Order property inspections and facilitate property preservation efforts as required by servicing guides for FHA, FNMA, FHLMC, USDA, and VA
  • Resolve delinquency through collection efforts and borrower assistance programs

Requirements:

  • Experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling is preferred
  • HUD Counseling Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mortgage servicing and/or collections is necessary
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are required
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment is crucial
