Position Overview:

The Vice President of Advancement Operations is tasked with managing the fundraising and advancement activities of the University, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance.

This role involves cultivating relationships with existing and prospective donors and acting as a bridge between the Advancement office and various University departments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily functions of the Advancement office, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Develop comprehensive fundraising strategies, including content creation, event logistics, and collaboration with external partners.
  • Implement innovative fundraising techniques and create marketing materials for campaigns and major gift initiatives.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio of donor prospects and oversee the donor agreement review process.
  • Manage capital campaign reporting and collaborate with relevant personnel to track donations and ensure compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between financial and IT divisions within the University.

Leadership and Strategic Planning:
  • Establish both long-term and short-term strategic objectives based on assessment data.
  • Adapt leadership strategies in response to new information and data.
  • Utilize effective collaboration strategies to enhance execution.
  • Align departmental goals with broader University initiatives and trends in higher education.
  • Manage budget, personnel, and proposal development.

Employee Management:
  • Support the University’s mission and exemplify a culture of service excellence.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and mentor department staff.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct annual evaluations.
  • Manage human resources reporting and personnel matters.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit advancement or annual giving.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of advancement principles.
  • Strong management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with fundraising software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Work Environment:
  • General office setting with some travel required.
  • Evening and weekend work may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to attend events on and off campus.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for event setup.
