Job Overview

Southland Holdings is seeking dedicated civil construction professionals for the role of Project Engineer. This position involves working closely with project teams to ensure efficient execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and timelines to facilitate optimal project execution.
  • Support the Project Manager and other key personnel with fundamental engineering tasks, including material take-offs and project estimates.
  • Prepare and present baseline schedules and obtain necessary approvals from project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate critical path impacts and communicate findings to the project team.
  • Monitor deviations in schedules and assist in formulating corrective actions.
  • Generate periodic progress reports and trend analyses to track project timelines.
  • Ensure the reliability of scheduling information.
  • Regularly review schedules with team members to incorporate accurate data.
  • Assess schedule integrity and analyze activity sequences for feasibility.
  • Review change orders for potential impacts on project timelines.
  • Resource load schedules as needed by the project team.
  • Conduct site visits to verify the physical progress of ongoing activities.
  • Manage project submittals and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Draft RFIs, subcontracts, and purchase orders while negotiating contract pricing to remain within budget.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling tasks.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Prepare correspondence and documentation for project stakeholders.
  • Participate in progress meetings and effectively communicate with team members.
  • Interpret and analyze construction plans and specifications.
  • Work both in the office and on-site to gain a comprehensive understanding of project execution.
  • Coordinate deliveries from suppliers and manage subcontractor schedules.
Field Responsibilities:
  • Maintain daily records of installation quantities.
  • Document start and stop times for record drawings.
  • Track equipment usage hours.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers on-site.
  • Attend necessary field meetings and capture progress through photographs.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field with 3 to 5 years of experience in construction scheduling.
  • Experience in tunneling is mandatory.
  • Strong computer skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 and procurement processes.
  • Understanding of industrial construction methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings.
  • Knowledge of contract management principles.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Comprehension of construction logic and sequencing for complex projects.
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000
Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
