Senior CPU Architecture Researcher - Advanced Platform Design

Role Overview

The CPU Platform Architecture team is tasked with guiding the future of Apple CPUs, focusing on high-performance micro-architecture innovations. Our mission is to enhance user experiences across Apple devices through cutting-edge CPU performance features. In this position, you will:

  • Address performance issues related to branch prediction, data/code pre-fetching, cache architecture, and other CPU domains.
  • Investigate the integration of state-of-the-art AI/ML methodologies to tackle CPU performance challenges.
  • Develop analytical tools tailored for identifying performance bottlenecks, enabling you to sift through complexities and focus on core issues.
  • Engage in ongoing research in various CPU domains, providing insights to the Apple CPU design team regarding future feature implementations.
  • Present your analyses and findings to architecture and design teams.
  • Offer strategic recommendations that will shape the roadmap for upcoming Apple CPUs utilized in various devices.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of CPU architecture and micro-architecture principles.
  • Specialization in specific CPU areas (e.g., branch prediction, pre-fetching) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, model selection, optimization, and interpretability.
  • Proven ability to identify performance bottlenecks in industry-standard workloads and devise solutions to address them.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience is required. A PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a focus on Computer Architecture or Machine Learning is preferred.
