Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Researcher/Principal Research Scientist to join our team at Flagship Pioneering. As a key member of our biomarker discovery and data science team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our preclinical platform and addressing diseases before they become a burden to patients and healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative methods for analyzing biological data, focusing on biomarkers and expanding to various types of molecular and clinical data
  • Design and execute machine learning models to identify biological markers of disease progression and implement these models in specific therapeutic areas
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage internal and external datasets to address key questions and formulate testable hypotheses
  • Develop clear visualizations and communicate analysis results to a diverse audience, including stakeholders and team members
  • Champion a data-driven culture by maintaining best practices for code development and data management
  • Stay informed about new technologies and models, seeking opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Computer Science, or related field
  • At least 5 years of post-doctoral experience required for the rank of Principal Research Scientist
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R
  • Knowledge of high-dimensional -omics data and tools for their analysis
  • Strong self-motivation, teamwork, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead research projects independently while communicating effectively with team members
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in applying deep learning models to biological data
  • Domain knowledge in health-related specialties such as cardiometabolic conditions, cancer, neurological, or autoimmune diseases
  • Experience working with mass spectrometry and other proteomic platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud-computing services and distributed architectures
