Job Title: Assembly Technician I

Job Description

Overview: Responsible for the preparation and assembly of manufactured components into subassemblies and complete systems. Conducts inspections and testing to ensure compliance with product specifications. Maintains records of final test data and identifies units that do not meet testing criteria or tolerance levels. Analyzes failure modes and performs necessary repairs on completed units and returned materials. Required to assemble non-standard units as needed. Interprets and adheres to assembly instructions, engineering documentation, wiring schematics, and performance specifications to execute assembly and testing tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of work instructions, procedures, and standards.
  • Assemble components and troubleshoot mechanical systems, including gears, motors, pumps, and other mechanical assemblies, utilizing hand and power tools in accordance with design specifications.
  • Perform hand soldering of electronic components on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) following IPC-J-STD-001 soldering standards.
  • Engage primarily with Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Plated Through Hole (PTH), and cable assemblies.
  • Execute various assembly operations, including precision soldering on PCBs, cable assembly, and the assembly of mechanical subsystems of medium to high complexity.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Connect and test units using test equipment such as power supplies and multi-meters, measuring voltage, current, wattage, and frequency.
  • Document test results and compare them against specifications, evaluating and repairing units that do not conform.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors regarding testing procedures and outcomes to resolve issues.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including objectives agreed upon with management.

Job Type: This is a Contract-to-Hire position.

Work Environment: The role is conducted on the production floor, where each assembler has designated workstations. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and be comfortable communicating effectively while working under pressure to meet deadlines. Shifts typically start early in the morning and may require occasional overtime.
