Job Overview
The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a warm welcome and outstanding service to all patients at VillageMD.

This position is tasked with the registration of patients and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure a swift and efficient patient experience.

The individual in this role addresses patient inquiries and concerns with urgency and compassion, both via phone and in person, and manages all documentation related to patient registration.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients with a friendly demeanor.
- Organize and manage patient intake and appointments effectively.
- Accurately input and update patient data in the system.
- Assist patients in completing necessary paperwork when required.
- Scan, update, and maintain medical records.
- Respond to phone calls and inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Process medical insurance details, verify patient eligibility, and address any insurance-related questions (in coordination with the Billing department as needed).
- Handle cash and co-payments with accuracy and responsibility.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to every patient.
- Communicate waiting room status and patient inquiries to the site manager or assistant site manager.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A positive, welcoming attitude towards patients and colleagues.
- Previous experience in a high-volume service environment (e.g., hospitality, medical office, retail) is preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a collaborative spirit.
- Proficient in computer use and possess excellent typing skills (approximately 55 wpm).
- Adaptable and flexible to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- A genuine passion for assisting others in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to effectively engage with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
- Bilingual skills are preferred based on location needs.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Frequent computer use is required.
