Job Overview

Vertex Aerospace is in search of a qualified Security Operations Manager to oversee our security initiatives.

Role Summary

The Security Operations Manager will report directly to the Corporate Director of Security and will be accountable for the comprehensive security program functions, which encompass Physical Security (PHYSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Communications Security (COMSEC), and Operations Security (OPSEC). This role also includes the administration of the Security Education Training and Awareness (SETA) program.

The primary responsibility of the Security Operations Manager is to establish, supervise, and implement security protocols in compliance with applicable federal regulations, including the 32 Code of Federal Regulation Part 117 and NISPOM, for both classified and unclassified contracts, materials, documents, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, execute, and oversee all facility security policies and procedures in alignment with government security standards.
  • Manage employee personnel security clearances and maintain all associated documentation.
  • Develop protocols for the handling, storage, and record-keeping of restricted materials and visitor access.
  • Research and apply federal security regulations relevant to current contracts.
  • Maintain comprehensive facility clearance records.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports as mandated by federal regulations.
  • Design and implement an ongoing employee security education and training program, including insider threat awareness.
  • Conduct initial and annual security briefings for employees.
  • Guide employees on reporting any potential security breaches immediately.
  • Maintain records on subcontractors and manage DD254 requests as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Information Systems Security Manager to ensure the integrity of classified information systems.
  • Monitor compliance with classified contractual requirements regarding information release.
  • Investigate security incidents and compile reports detailing corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary liaison for security reviews and correspondence.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) Industrial Security environment is essential.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD security regulations, particularly NISPOM and related guidelines.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Clearance Requirement

Possession of a current Final Top Secret personnel Security Clearance is mandatory.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be required.
