Role Overview:

The Communications Security Officer (CSO) plays a pivotal role in supporting critical operations. The selected individual will:

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to COMSEC equipment and protocols.
  • Manage the procurement and tracking of COMSEC materials.
  • Oversee COMSEC Key Management and ensure secure transport of materials.
  • Act as the COMSEC gatekeeper, ensuring adherence to Two-Person Integrity protocols.
  • Be accountable for the keying of network and telecommunications devices.
  • Investigate and address classified security concerns, coordinating necessary actions to maintain compliance with security programs.
  • Formulate, implement, and oversee Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure physical security and access control measures are upheld.
  • Safeguard the storage of classified COMSEC materials.
  • Maintain detailed records of combinations and conduct daily security assessments.
  • Oversee inventory management and compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate routine destruction of COMSEC materials and generate destruction reports.
  • Keep records of alternate COMSEC personnel.
  • Conduct biannual inventory checks and report findings.
  • Ensure strict compliance with physical security and record-keeping standards for classified materials.
  • Perform additional duties related to Information Assurance as necessary.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and rectifying network systems and circuit issues as required.
  • Support the maintenance of long-haul transport circuit/network/system documentation as needed.

***Availability for shift work may be necessary to support continuous operations. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Security Clearance – TS with SCI eligibility.
  • Certification – DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC policies and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with common COMSEC devices.
  • Experience with DoD processes or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of COMSEC, KMI, and KOAM operations.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of OSI, TCP/IP, and various layer 2 protocols.
  • Familiarity with data center transport mechanisms and cabling.
  • Experience in audits and assessments.
  • General knowledge of Personnel, Physical, and Industrial Security.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
