Position Overview: The Senior Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the admission processes for all patients receiving services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assigning accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs)
  • Conducting medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Providing clear patient instructions
  • Collecting insurance details
  • Receiving and processing physician orders
  • Utilizing overlay tools while delivering exceptional customer service

Our Patient Access team is dedicated to adhering to organizational policies while ensuring compassionate service during every interaction.

Key responsibilities also encompass:

  • Meeting point of service goals
  • Utilizing quality auditing and reporting systems to rectify accounts
  • Conducting thorough audits to ensure compliance with standards
  • Pre-registering patient accounts prior to visits

The Senior Patient Access Specialist is also responsible for:

  • Explaining general consent forms to patients or guardians
  • Distributing essential patient education documents
  • Reviewing eligibility responses and entering benefit data to support billing processes
  • Screening medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software

Employment Qualifications:

Preferred certifications include Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) and/or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), with company-sponsored training available.

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in patient access or a leadership role

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A solid understanding of the revenue cycle, including admissions, billing, payments, and denials, is required. Familiarity with the patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification is essential.
