Position Overview

We are in search of a Senior Property Accountant to oversee and manage the accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of assets, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position is integral to our operations and will be based in our Seattle office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and document journal entries to accurately reflect all cash and accrual transactions for a portfolio of properties in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze monthly financial reports, lender statements, and budget variances.
  • Act as a technical resource for the Property Accounting team and other internal departments.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management, Property Management, and Corporate Accounting teams to ensure comprehensive and accurate accounting information.
  • Monitor compliance with deadlines for all relevant tasks.
  • Review leasing activities, maintaining tenant profiles and ledgers.
  • Provide support for understanding Yardi functionalities and serve as an internal expert.
  • Manage CAM reconciliations and operating expense recoveries.
  • Conduct job cost accounting reviews, tracking building and tenant improvements.
  • Maintain GAAP fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Coordinate with teams to ensure accurate recording during asset acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and proficiency in GAAP are essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and trial balance analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in the commercial real estate sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with real estate legal documents is beneficial.
  • Prior experience with Yardi Voyager or similar accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships across various levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative approach and a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with Google productivity tools.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
