Metropolitan Management Co is seeking a skilled accounting professional with expertise in property management to fulfill the role of Property Accountant. Our firm is dedicated to the acquisition and management of multi-family real estate across the Puget Sound region. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage general ledger postings and reconciliations.
  • Execute journal entries for accruals and prepayments.
  • Oversee payroll processing and reporting.
  • Handle payroll taxes at both Federal and State levels.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly excise tax reporting.
  • Reconcile bank accounts effectively.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Prepare financial statements accurately.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of procedures.
  • Update and create accounting manuals and desktop procedures.
  • Manage departmental paperwork flow efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a staff accountant, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Prior experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end closing, financial analysis, reconciliation, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and quarterly reporting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Onesite/RealPage or Yardi accounting systems and property management software is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to learn quickly while meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to mentor fellow staff members and work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Word are required.
  • Ability to engage with senior management effectively.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
