Role Summary


Designs, organizes, and implements physical therapy programs aimed at assisting clients/patients/residents in recovering and enhancing their mobility, alleviating pain, boosting strength, and preventing physical deformities.

Conducts assessments, evaluations, and interventions for clients/patients/residents impacted by injuries or illnesses. Employs various tools and techniques to deliver physical therapy interventions while adhering to safety protocols. Maintains documentation of client/patient/resident information for evaluation; formulates therapeutic plans and adjusts them as needed. Instructs clients/patients/residents and their families on treatment plans/schedules and self-care exercises to be continued at home. Demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate treatments and evaluations tailored to the needs of clients/patients/residents. Integrates current research findings into daily treatment practices.

May provide treatment to individuals across all age groups with diverse diagnoses and conditions. Ensures documentation aligns with departmental standards and complies with all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates specialized treatment techniques pertinent to their area of expertise for clients/patients/residents. Adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines established by professional organizations.

Exhibits adaptability to varying work schedules and assignments. Engages in initiatives to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health.

Will interact with individuals outside the department, including but not limited to:
providers, case managers, third-party payers, public organizations, and contractual partners. May supervise assistants, aides, and students in providing care, treatment, or related services.

Expected to offer ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise as determined by departmental leadership.

Performs additional related duties as assigned by management.


Depending on facility needs and assigned locations, may focus on clients receiving interventions in post-acute, long-term care, and home health settings.


Qualifications
Required education level must align with state licensure requirements.

Must hold a valid license in the state(s) of practice as a Physical Therapist.

When applicable, a valid driver's license may be required.

Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
