The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is a historic and elegant hotel located in the heart of Roanoke, Virginia.

Established in 1882, this Tudor-style hotel is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places and is affiliated with the International Association of Conference Centers.

With its grand architecture and rich history, the hotel exemplifies timeless elegance.

Featuring 329 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites, the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center offers a variety of accommodation options to meet the needs of every guest.

Overview:


We are seeking a highly engaging, safety-oriented individual to fill the role of 2nd Shift Security Officer.

The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and leads by example, responding professionally and courteously to guests and team members while providing support both personally and professionally.

The Security Officer is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, and the property. This includes assisting other departments to maintain the highest levels of service for guests and staff.

This position operates on the 2nd shift, from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with weekend and vacation availability required. Training for this role typically occurs during the 1st shift.

Your Role:


- Conduct regular patrols of the hotel interior and perimeter to identify potential safety and security risks.


- Respond to emergencies, including safety hazards, fires, medical situations, and threats to life or property.

- Promote safe work practices.

- Initiate preliminary investigations into incidents as necessary.

- Prepare reports and ensure the accuracy of required documentation.

- Address guest inquiries and resolve issues promptly and courteously.

- Monitor visitors and vendors, issuing identification badges as needed.

- Assist with accessing guest rooms and meeting spaces as required.

- Distribute radios, master keys, and hard keys to employees.

- Complete daily activity and incident reports.

- Respond to fire panel activations.

- Attend to medical calls and incidents.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Previous security experience is required, with preference given to candidates with military or law enforcement backgrounds, particularly those with hotel security experience.

First Aid/AED/CPR training is preferred or must be obtainable.

Effective communication skills with guests and co-workers are essential.

Ability to perform necessary tasks on a computer.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining focused on completing assigned tasks.

All security personnel must possess a clear criminal background and DMV record.

Other:
The hotel operates seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day.

All employees, both management and hourly, must understand that it may be necessary to adjust shifts based on business needs.


Compensation Range:
The compensation for this position ranges from $14.50 to $17.25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
