Key Responsibilities

The Data Center Controls Engineering team is seeking talented individuals to join our Controls organization as a Technician focused on the Service & Construction of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) within AWS data centers.

  • Support multiple Data Centers by deploying, servicing, and upgrading BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Conduct initial diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of programming code and hardware related to BMS and EPMS.
  • Perform point-to-point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
  • Oversee the provisioning process for servers, controllers, industrial PCs, and ensure communication testing between third-party devices and controllers or servers.
  • Maintain and manage computer enterprise asset management systems for BMS and EPMS installations.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects and programs effectively.
  • Install, replace, configure, and calibrate sensors as needed.
  • Interpret and understand electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
  • Supervise low voltage electrical contractors to ensure compliance with AWS standards.
  • Mentor and train Facilities team members on the operation and control of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Assist in commissioning and systems-level testing.
  • Create detailed documentation and red-lined drawings of systems.
  • Follow change management processes to generate work requests and methods of procedures.
  • Participate in factory witnessed tests at vendor facilities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Recommend design enhancements based on user consultations and system operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to proper safety protocols on-site.
  • Be available for on-call duties and a rotating schedule as required, responding to after-hours emergencies.
  • Manage service activities, including monitoring ticketing systems and prioritizing tasks.
  • Oversee service agreements, including vendor labor scheduling and quality assurance.

Our mission within the Data Center Controls Engineering team is to oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of a highly reliable electrical and mechanical control system throughout the lifecycle of an AWS data center.

Basic Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience with computer components and operating systems.
  • Minimum one year of experience with mission-critical low and medium voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Basic understanding of industrial control systems, including troubleshooting of analog, discrete, and networked input/output field signals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a Data Center or mission-critical environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification as an International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher.
  • Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
