Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Business Development to spearhead our efforts in identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities within the government and education sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning & Development
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy targeting federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and educational organizations.
    • Identify emerging trends and market opportunities within the government and education sectors.
    • Establish and maintain a robust pipeline of government and education opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials and decision-makers, as well as key stakeholders in the education sector.
    • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and credibility.
    • Provide ongoing support and consultation to government and education clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Sales and Deal Closure
    • Lead the end-to-end sales process, from initial contact through contract negotiation and closure.
    • Develop compelling proposals and presentations tailored to government and education requirements.
    • Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Collaboration & Coordination
    • Work closely with internal teams to align efforts and ensure seamless execution of business development initiatives.
    • Provide insights and feedback to product development teams to tailor offerings to government and education needs.
    • Mentor and support junior business development staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, with a focus on government contracts or the education sector.
  • Proven track record of closing high-value deals within the government or education sector.
  • Experience closing sales and driving revenue growth with a SaaS company.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) software (preferably Hubspot).
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle rejection and stay motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
