The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in providing financial guidance, collecting co-payments and deductibles, and offering financial assistance education to patients and their families.

This position involves immediate registration, appointment scheduling, and thorough completion of registration by gathering and inputting all relevant financial and demographic details into the ADT system. Responsibilities also include verifying insurance benefits, generating the ABN, ensuring order compliance, completing MSP, obtaining necessary financial and treatment consents, scheduling medical procedures, and securing pre-certification when required, all while adhering to regulatory standards.


The Patient Access Specialist must exhibit a strong Customer Focus, demonstrating Patience, Composure, and Compassion.

Ability to manage Ambiguity is essential, as is coping effectively with change; strong Time Management skills and Interpersonal Savvy are vital for fostering Peer Relationships.

This role requires expert Functional/Technical skills while conducting financial assessments and evaluations for each patient entering the facility.

The Patient Access Specialist must understand the organization's financial policies, apply them appropriately to patients, and ensure payment for the patient's financial obligations to the healthcare facility.

Maintaining exceptional customer service standards is imperative for effective communication with physicians, physician offices, patients, and colleagues.

Patient Access Specialists are expected to carry out all responsibilities efficiently while safeguarding patient confidentiality and privacy rights.

Education

Minimum Educational Requirement:
High School diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Educational Background:
Associate's Degree in healthcare or a related business field is preferred.

Position-Specific Testing:
Preferred typing speed of 25 wpm on Windows-based systems.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Certification in Medical Terminology is preferred.

Experience

Minimum Experience Required: 3 years of relevant job experience

Preferred Experience:
Background in customer service, general clerical/office work, hospital settings, medical offices/clinics, or insurance companies. Relevant coursework may substitute for prior work experience.
