Position Summary

The Regional Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing rail terminal functions, which encompass customer relations, scheduling, employee management, budgeting, staffing, safety protocols, and meeting production targets on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison for clients.
  • Lead a team of supervisors and operational personnel.
  • Plan labor schedules and modify staffing levels according to business demands.
  • Execute daily operations and collaborate with the VP of Rail Services to oversee rail activities.
  • Manage and coordinate yard planning efforts.
  • Conduct interviews and select candidates for employment.
  • Foster effective relationships with local union representatives.

Supervisory Duties

This role includes direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The work setting may vary, including well-lit, climate-controlled offices, rail environments, production areas, and outdoor/indoor shop settings, or enclosed vehicles with adequate ventilation and protection from extreme weather.

Physical Requirements

This position involves light physical activity, including non-strenuous daily tasks of an administrative or production/technical nature. Manual dexterity is necessary for reaching and handling items.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time role, typically requiring 8 hours of work per day, Monday through Friday, during standard daytime hours. Overtime may be necessary.

Travel Requirements

Travel by land and/or air may be required up to 75% of the time.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year institution is required.

Two to four years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent is preferred.

Four to ten years of relevant experience and/or training in the Maritime, Transportation, and/or Logistics sectors.

Technical Skills

Intermediate proficiency in personal computer operations, including email, routine database tasks, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC badge (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and eRailSafe certification.
