Job Overview

The Human Resources Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting and facilitating HR processes across various business locations. This position manages employee health and welfare programs and serves as a key point of contact between staff and insurance providers. The HR Specialist addresses benefits-related inquiries and ensures the effective utilization of plans while fostering positive employee relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees health and welfare programs, including enrollments, modifications, and terminations. Ensures accurate record-keeping and proper deductions by processing necessary documents through payroll and insurance providers.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by responding to employee inquiries and requests.
  • Completes I-9 forms, verifies documentation, and maintains I-9 records.
  • Assists in the recruitment process, including background checks and onboarding for new hires.
  • Reconciles benefits statements and general ledger allocations.
  • Performs clerical duties such as photocopying, mailing, scanning, and emailing documents.
  • Organizes and files documents into appropriate employee records.
  • Prepares correspondence as needed.
  • Sets up files for new employees.
  • Handles incoming mail.
  • Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
  • SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
