Role Summary:

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the month-end closing and reporting processes within the Finance Department. Reporting to the Controller, this position will assist in preparing monthly balance sheets and contribute to the month-end closing activities.

This role will also involve collaboration with finance leadership on essential accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll coordination, and general accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Management, Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

  • Establish new customer profiles in the accounting system and generate invoices with necessary documentation.
  • Prepare monthly customer statements, manage overdue communications, and oversee various customer invoice submission platforms.
  • Collect payments from clients and ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
  • Reconcile invoice details with internal and external records.
  • Act as the primary contact for accounts receivable inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.

Accounts Payable Management

  • Compile weekly vendor payment lists.
  • Verify and process bill payments related to accounts payable, ensuring proper approvals are in place.
  • Ensure accurate recording of payments to the appropriate accounts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address any accounts payable-related queries.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for accounts payable matters for both internal and external parties.

Payroll Coordination

  • Prepare and submit payroll timecards to the Payroll Specialist.
  • Act as the liaison for payroll-related inquiries and collaborate with the Payroll Specialist to resolve issues.
  • Assist in managing payroll liabilities and related reconciliations.

General Accounting Duties

  • Support project teams with various reports, accounts receivable aging updates, and vendor credit applications.
  • Monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform general accounting, cost accounting, and other related responsibilities for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of general financial accounting principles.
  • Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in accounting, ideally in a similar capacity.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
