Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

In the role of a technical authority in clinical applications, the incumbent will leverage advanced professional concepts and extensive industry expertise to lead and/or engage in medium to large-scale projects characterized by broad scope and complexity. This position entails providing comprehensive support for all computer and information systems activities within the Pathology Department. The incumbent will oversee operations and maintain the Laboratory Information System (LIS) performance and integrity, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and adherence to all relevant regulations. Additionally, the incumbent may be tasked with chairing user groups and validation committees, collaborating with technical specialists and physicians across the Health System.

Required Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Recent and comprehensive knowledge of LIS functionality and applications.
  • Possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential for successful performance in assigned duties.
  • Capability to organize, coordinate, and lead meetings involving diverse groups of technical specialists and healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills appropriate to the role.
  • Willingness to participate in 24-hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer.
  • In-depth understanding of operations, systems, and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with laboratory medicine theory and practice.
  • Beaker AP/CP Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Aptitude for organizing and coordinating multiple complex tasks while effectively responding to deadline pressures.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace that aligns with workload demands.
  • Capacity to function effectively as both a project leader and a project team member.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships across the Health System.
  • Advanced problem-resolution skills applicable to highly complex issues, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Beaker.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with University and Medical Center organizational structures, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of LIS maintenance, including the development of new test builds.
  • Experience with EMR/LIS HL7, instruments, middleware, and point-of-care interfaces.
  • Experience in the implementation of digital pathology.
  • Current California Clinical Lab Scientist or Cytotechnologist License.
