Your Contribution to the Team

Position Overview:

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist serves as a key expert, delivering specialized knowledge in Oncology pharmacy services. This role involves the development of protocols, policies, and guidelines for clinical pharmacy services in the Oncology sector. The incumbent will participate in organizational committees to advance both departmental and organizational initiatives. Actively engaged in quality assurance activities, the pharmacist ensures adherence to all relevant pharmacy and hospital regulations, including those set forth by The Joint Commission and Title 22. Responsibilities include the creation and delivery of specialized educational programs for pharmacy, nursing, and medical personnel as required. The pharmacist will manage daily drug distribution, processing, and therapeutic interventions as necessary. Additionally, the role encompasses undertaking projects aimed at enhancing clinical and financial outcomes and participating in research initiatives. The Senior Clinical Pharmacist will also mentor pharmacy residents, students, technicians, or interns as designated by the supervisor, and will be expected to present lectures to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals both within and outside the organization. The position is classified as a Direct Care Provider according to Pharmacy Policy and is recognized as a subject matter expert in emergency medicine, often taking on more project responsibilities than standard staff pharmacists.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary for effective performance in the role
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Proficiency in Pharmacotherapy
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Exemplary customer service skills appropriate for the position
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency or a minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical pharmacist
  • Active CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an acute-care pharmacy residency plus 3 years of experience in Oncology Pharmacy, or completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Residency
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts
  • Experience as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Oncology Pharmacy Specialty
