Position Overview:
Nuclear Medicine Technologist - The University of Miami is actively seeking dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologists to join our esteemed Department of Radiology. This role involves performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in nuclear medicine, with a strong focus on radiopharmacology, quality assurance, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Confirm patient identity by verifying their name and date of birth, ensuring all necessary consents are obtained.
  • Engage with patients to assess their comfort levels and any pain experienced before, during, and after examinations.
  • Maintain and sanitize all equipment following established decontamination protocols.
  • Support emergency care efforts by prioritizing patient safety and sensitivity.
  • Assist the supervising physician during procedures by providing essential supplies.
  • Verify the accuracy of radiopharmaceuticals by checking labels on containers and syringes.
  • Keep precise and comprehensive patient records in both physical and digital formats, adhering to confidentiality regulations.
  • Refer to standard dose tables to confirm dosages and select appropriate radiopharmaceuticals for requested procedures.
  • Comply with organization-wide safety, security, and infection control standards.
  • Measure radiopharmaceuticals using a dose calibrator and document the activity amount and assay time on patient dose slips.
  • Select the optimal instruments and settings for imaging, positioning both the patient and equipment for the best results.
  • Assist patients onto and off imaging tables, chairs, or stools, utilizing proper body mechanics and considering age-specific needs.
  • Participate in training and orientation sessions to maintain professional competency.
  • Employ aseptic techniques when administering injected radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding university assets.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

Certification and Licensing:
Registered with NMTCB or ARRT-N; must hold a valid State of Florida License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. A valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator is also required. BLS certification is mandatory.
