Role Summary:
Responsible for ensuring precise coding, documentation, and reporting of financial information for UNC Health Care. Oversees accounting activities to guarantee compliance with budgets and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Formulates and executes financial strategies to meet organizational goals. Conducts financial analyses for departmental and institutional planning.
2. Manages designated funds, including the preparation of all necessary reports, explanations, and schedules. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures while recommending adjustments as needed.
3. Reviews accounting transactions for accuracy and consistency. Reconciles data from subsidiary systems to the General Ledger.
4. Analyzes revenues and expenditures in relation to budget, making necessary adjustments to plans. Participates in the establishment of budgets, goals, and objectives.
5. Prepares and maintains precise accounting records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards. Engages in system-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies.
6. Processes journal entries, including the approval and correction of entries.
7. Assists with the annual audit under supervision.
8. Aids in the preparation of the ACFR with supervision.

Additional Information

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance; or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* If holding a Bachelor's degree: No prior experience required.
* If holding an Associate's degree: Four (4) years of experience in accounting.
* If possessing a High School diploma or GED: Eight (8) years of experience in accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong analytical capabilities.
