Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a skilled Departmental Charge Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for researching charge discrepancies and working with other departments to make necessary corrections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and monitor areas of compliance, workflow, and business processes to recommend policies and procedures for improvement.
  • Assist in the management and reconciliation of patient accounts with charge discrepancies by researching issues and working with Patient Financial Services to make account adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and track staff quality and productivity by auditing accounts to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a lead resource for scheduling within outpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) to achieve effective and efficient operations.
  • Work with PM&R management to coordinate workflow activities and identify ways to improve workflow and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Three (3) years' experience in a hospital or business office setting, including experience in medical billing, registration, or coding.
  • Knowledge of third-party payors, managed care, and insurance coverage, eligibility, and explanation of benefits.
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  • Detail-oriented, basic mathematical skills, and sharp analytical skills to resolve complex financial issues.
  • Positive demeanor, good leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills, and professional appearance and approach.
