Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maternal Fetal Medicine Imaging Specialist.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to identify anomalies, conduct cardiac assessments, and perform anatomical evaluations.

Working within an academic medical environment, our Imaging Specialists independently manage patient care while collaborating with Ob/Gyn faculty for consultations regarding imaging results.

We adhere to the standards established by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) to ensure quality care for women across all age groups.

We are looking for an experienced Imaging Specialist with Fetal Echo Certification and at least two years of ultrasound experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate's Degree in Ultrasound Technology or completion of an accredited Sonography Program.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) is required.
  • Nuchal Translucency (NT) Certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of ultrasound experience is preferred; clinical training at our institution may be considered as experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring adequate supplies for procedures.
  • Demonstrate responsible use of hospital resources to meet financial objectives.
  • Inspect equipment and accessories for proper functionality and report any issues for repair.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries regarding procedures.
  • Communicate any equipment problems or pending exams with relevant staff.
  • Participate in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  • Engage in training and mentoring new employees and students.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating exams to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conduct quality control on assigned equipment and report issues in a timely manner.
  • Attend departmental and facility meetings/classes with a minimum attendance of 90%.
  • Complete required training courses/modules on time.
  • Perform duties in the best interest of patients, staff, and the facility as assigned.
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines regarding time, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Wear employee identification and comply with dress code policies.
  • May assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the designated supervisor.
  • Participate in all regulatory compliance activities.
Patient Interaction:
  • Verify patient identification using the required forms of ID as per hospital policies.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, verify screening protocols, and address any questions.
  • Evaluate patient history and symptoms to meet clinical criteria for procedures.
  • Assist patients in preparing for exams and ensure their physical well-being during transport and positioning.
  • Instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the tests to be performed.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for all age groups.
Exam Performance:
  • Verify requisition/chart for valid orders, priority dates, and necessary documentation.
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations according to established protocols in a timely manner.
  • Assist physicians as needed with additional imaging or biopsy procedures.
  • Ensure that images and records are accurately completed with patient identification data.
  • Utilize technical expertise to perform procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete exam charges and documentation promptly and forward to the radiologist.
  • Administer intravenous contrast material as appropriate and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and train students in all areas of current competencies.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Lead the work of technologists to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Participate in the quality assurance and compliance programs.
  • Engage in various accreditation processes as directed.
