MANUFACTURING PROCESS ENGINEER
Location: Remote

Position Overview: As a Manufacturing Process Engineer focused on new operations, facility transitions, workflow enhancement, Lean methodologies, and operational advancements, this role will be instrumental in crafting, executing, and refining processes within our facilities. This position will engage with diverse teams to ensure the effective integration of sustainable practices and operational efficiency from inception. A strategic and innovative thinker with a robust technical foundation and a commitment to fostering continuous improvement will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

New Operations:

  • Direct the design and configuration of new manufacturing spaces emphasizing safety, sustainability, energy conservation, and waste minimization.
  • Partner with architects, construction crews, and other stakeholders to ensure that sustainable building practices are integrated into facility design and construction.
  • Formulate and execute strategies for the acquisition of equipment for new facilities.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and cost-benefit evaluations for sustainable initiatives, presenting insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making.

Facility Transitions:

  • Organize and oversee the transfer of manufacturing operations to new locations, ensuring minimal disruption to production timelines.
  • Create comprehensive transition plans, including equipment arrangement, workflow optimization, and logistical considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and contractors to ensure the safe and efficient movement of equipment and materials.
  • Conduct evaluations post-transition to identify areas for enhancement and implement necessary corrective measures.

Operational Advancements and Workflow Enhancement:

  • Examine current workflows to pinpoint opportunities for optimization, waste reduction, and cost efficiency.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to refine processes and boost overall productivity.
  • Establish visual management tools and performance indicators to monitor and assess progress.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct studies on downtime, line balancing, motion, and manufacturing capacity, designing product line layouts and routing plans.
  • Facilitate and lead teams on continuous improvement projects through lean manufacturing, process control, automation, and quality assurance.
  • Develop enhancements for fabrication, assembly, and packaging processes, providing ongoing technical support for both new and existing manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain engineering modifications, bills of materials, product routings, and manufacturing/process documentation.
  • Travel to various manufacturing sites as required, sometimes for extended durations.
  • Offer support to Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Materials Management as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a cooperative environment.
  • A high level of curiosity and eagerness to learn and develop.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
