Position Overview

Department: Emergency Services

Work Schedule: 7am-7pm; Full Time

Weekly Hours: 36

Role Summary: Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, the individual will be responsible for accurately entering physician directives into the electronic medical record system and maintaining comprehensive patient documentation. This role includes managing the nursing station's front desk, addressing inquiries from patients and visitors, and monitoring cardiac telemetry for any irregularities. Access to essential medical supply areas is required for the completion of tasks.

Primary Duties:

  • Monitors telemetry systems, promptly alerting nursing staff to any cardiac irregularities, while maintaining a log of monitor activity and documenting ECG readings.
  • Inputs physician orders and updates patient information through electronic systems, ensuring accuracy in diagnostic tests and consultations.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for patients, healthcare staff, and visitors, effectively communicating messages and facilitating information flow with professionalism.
  • Updates patient records, documents vital signs, and retrieves laboratory results as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains patient records, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared for transfers to other departments or facilities.
  • Ensures the secretarial area remains organized and presentable, maintaining the functionality of workstations.
  • Orders and manages office supplies weekly, ensuring adequate inventory levels for the unit.
  • Prepares and maintains admission paperwork for incoming patients.
  • Engages in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
  • Familiarizes with emergency protocols and safety regulations relevant to the work environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.

Certifications:

  • Unit Secretary Certification is preferred.
  • EKG Monitor Certification is preferred.
