POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Director/Nurse Manager/Administrative Supervisor, the Clinical Coordinator is tasked with overseeing daily operations, scheduling, and the supervision of nursing care tailored to the diverse age groups of patients. This role involves collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for monitoring care delivery to ensure it meets quality standards, is timely, and effective. During the day shift, this position also manages unit activities in the absence of the Director/Nurse Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates the role of the RN as the Coordinator of Care and oversees the activities of the multidisciplinary team and/or external agencies. The Clinical Coordinator may verify orders, uphold the confidentiality and professionalism of the unit, and serve as a resource for unit staff.
  • Assesses care delivery and patient satisfaction, collaborating with staff to address and resolve issues. Investigates and documents the resolution of variance reports.
  • Promotes effective communication among co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members. Encourages the use of the SBAR format for all handoff reports and changes in patient status, adhering to the chain of command.
  • Develops monthly staffing schedules and makes daily adjustments to accommodate call-ins and shortages. Prepares daily assignments accordingly.
  • Maintains competency as a team leader and participates in direct patient care as necessary.
  • Evaluates the performance of designated staff and prepares performance appraisals. Identifies situations requiring further guidance and counseling for staff.
  • Coordinates and engages in staff development initiatives, assisting the Nurse Manager/Director in orienting new staff and verifying staff competencies.
  • In the absence of the Nurse Manager/Director, or as assigned, coordinates unit activities and performs payroll edits as needed.
  • Participates in committees and supervises unit process improvement initiatives to enhance nursing practice effectiveness.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Familiarizes with fire, disaster, and safety procedures and regulations relevant to the work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Associate's degree in nursing, required
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a clinical setting.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • State of Florida RN license
  • BCLS, EKG competency, if applicable
  • ACLS or PALS or NRP certification preferred
