Position Summary:

The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in managing various administrative and clerical responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of patient processing and scheduling within the department. This position is essential in fostering effective communication with patients and visitors, thereby enhancing overall satisfaction and quality of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors, ensuring they are informed of necessary personnel upon their arrival. Manage multiple phone lines and respond to inquiries in a professional manner. Address any complaints or requests promptly and effectively.
  • Process and manage physicians' orders, handle patient admissions and discharges, and maintain accurate patient charts. Provide clerical support for departmental initiatives and activities as required.
  • Ensure the timely completion and submission of all necessary documentation, including patient records and reports. Maintain an organized inventory of office supplies and equipment while verifying patient insurance details and collecting co-payments.
  • Facilitate the distribution of essential forms to billing and other departments, assist in the upkeep of hospital documentation, and perform confidential clerical tasks such as data entry and filing.
  • Inform patients about necessary preparations for examinations and provide reminders at the time of appointment confirmations. Assist in scheduling appointments and managing departmental resources.
  • Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, engage with patients while they wait, and monitor for any alarms or notifications, reporting them to the appropriate department.
  • Compile information for reports and departmental meetings, providing administrative support for special projects as needed.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
