Position Overview:
The Medical Staff Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing credential files and temporary privilege applications for medical practitioners, ensuring compliance with state laws, Joint Commission standards, and internal bylaws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the credentialing processes for medical staff and allied health professionals, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for committee meetings, maintaining records of attendance and providing administrative support.
  • Respond to inquiries from legal counsel regarding physician peer reviews and related actions.
  • Verify the credentials of applicants, including education, employment history, and licensure.
  • Facilitate the review and approval of applications by the Medical Staff Credentials Committee.
  • Issue acceptance or non-acceptance letters to applicants and coordinate orientation for new medical staff members.
  • Maintain confidential records and logs in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist with special projects and compose necessary correspondence.

Qualifications:
Two years of experience in medical staff credentialing or administrative support within a healthcare setting is preferred. Experience in an acute care hospital or managed care facility is advantageous. Membership in the California Association of Medical Staff Services and certification as a Medical Staff Coordinator are highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with JCAHO standards, California Medical Board regulations, and medical staff bylaws is essential. Proficiency in modern office practices, business English, and various software applications is required.

Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be able to organize tasks effectively, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are crucial.

Employees must adhere to all health requirements set by Kern Medical. Background checks may be necessary for this position. All employees are designated as "Disaster Service Workers" and are expected to report to work during emergencies.
