Position Summary:

The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in managing various administrative and clerical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of patient scheduling and processing within the department. This position is essential in fostering effective communication with patients and visitors, thereby enhancing overall satisfaction and quality of care. Responsibilities are primarily conducted in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcomes and assists patients and visitors, ensuring they are informed of their arrival and directing them to the appropriate personnel. Manages multiple phone lines and intercom systems, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly. Processes and verifies physicians' orders efficiently. Handles the admission and discharge of patients, maintaining accurate records.
  • Compiles and submits all necessary documentation, including charts and records, as required. Requests prior patient records when necessary and maintains departmental statistics and reports. Oversees the inventory of office supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels. Identifies patients' insurance status and collects co-payments as needed.
  • Facilitates the distribution of necessary forms to billing and other departments. Aids in the upkeep of hospital documentation. Performs confidential clerical tasks, including data entry and filing, while also assisting in scheduling patient appointments and managing demographic information.
  • Informs patients about necessary preparations for examinations and confirms their understanding during appointment reminders. Assists in organizing departmental needs such as classes and programs.
  • Maintains a clean and organized waiting area, ensuring a pleasant environment for patients. Monitors alarms and alerts the appropriate department as needed. Provides support to uphold quality standards within the department and assists in compiling information for reports and meetings.
  • Undertakes additional job-related tasks as assigned.
