Job Title: Elevator Mechanic

As an Elevator Mechanic at Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our university's elevators, escalators, and lifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on elevators, escalators, dumb waiters, and lifts in university-owned buildings.
  • Inspect and perform scheduled preventative maintenance in elevators, escalators, lifts, and related components.
  • Respond to call-back/trouble calls in a timely manner and restore equipment to a safe operating condition.
  • Operate tools and equipment common to the elevator trade, such as voltammeter, amp probe, Meggers, tachometer, rotation meter, soldering irons, solid state logic probes, and lap top troubleshooting computer.
  • Provide supervisor with repair, inspection, test, and preventative maintenance reports.
  • Assist supervisor in the ordering of supplies and replacement of parts as needed.
  • Maintain equipment machine rooms, pits, and car tops in safe and working condition; may do cleaning and painting duties.
  • May be assigned to serve on special task force during periods of emergency, such as floods, storms, and hurricanes.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of directly job-related experience required.
  • Preferred: Two years of directly job-related experience.
  • Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job.
