Stellar is in search of a dedicated full-time Project Construction Manager I to become a vital part of our organization. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations and provide direct leadership for educational and institutional projects, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project timelines and adhere to budgetary constraints. Your leadership will be essential in achieving optimal cost outcomes regarding labor and materials while upholding safety and quality standards.

  • Ensure successful cost management concerning labor and materials while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Act as the primary on-site liaison with clients and their representatives to guarantee satisfaction.
  • Key Responsibilities: Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
  • Take full responsibility for the construction project, coordinating and managing all trades involved, including subcontractors.
  • Plan and schedule project activities on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required.
  • In collaboration with the General Superintendent, develop construction techniques and methods, including formwork, material handling, crew management, and task sequencing.
  • Oversee the recruitment of potential job site personnel.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting all project activities.
  • Assist in the solicitation of qualified subcontractors, monitoring their performance and scheduling while keeping Project Managers and the General Superintendent informed of any delays.
  • Identify and report any additional work requested by the client or necessitated by job conditions that fall outside the original scope.
  • Ensure accurate layout of lines and grades for all work conducted by Stellar employees and subcontractors, verifying dimensions against design and shop drawings.
  • Oversee daily quality control for both company and subcontractor work.
  • Prepare weekly labor quantity reports and manage the daily processing of field purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and delivery tickets.
  • Be accountable for on-site safety and accident management, investigating and reporting all incidents promptly. Conduct weekly safety meetings and implement effective safety practices.
  • Foster positive local relations, especially on projects outside the home area.
  • Provide on-site training to employees to cultivate a knowledgeable workforce.
  • Direct the activities of workers involved in the construction of buildings or other projects, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Manage a team of 15 subordinate supervisors overseeing a total of 15+ subcontractors on-site, ensuring effective direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Responsibilities include employee training, work planning, performance appraisal, and problem resolution.
  • Conduct daily safety audits, post-preparatory meeting inspections, and maintain a daily log that includes subcontractor reports.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings, including notes and sign-in sheets, and manage weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Manager or in a similar capacity.
  • Experience in higher education, K-12, or other institutional projects is required.
  • Possession of reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Supervisory responsibilities may require flexibility for nights and weekends based on project needs.
