Job Overview

The primary role of the Construction Project Leader is to oversee, direct, and ensure accountability for all facets of the pool construction sector. This includes managing client relationships, coordinating with subcontractors, and fostering the growth and development of team members as well as the organization as a whole. The responsibilities encompass supervising all elements of pool construction and outdoor living projects, expanding and securing new business opportunities, managing project portfolios to meet or exceed financial projections, and engaging in the internal management of the firm.

The Project Leader is expected to guide team development by identifying skill requirements, delegating tasks effectively, and inspiring staff to deliver exceptional client service. While specializing in specific business competencies such as scheduling, operations, management, training, policy formulation, and employee positioning, the Project Leader should possess a comprehensive understanding of all business aspects to lead the team in fulfilling client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 10 years in concrete swimming pool construction.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role within construction management.
  • Possession of a contractor's license is preferred but not mandatory.

Internal Collaboration

· Cultivate staff development by ensuring team members fully comprehend client needs and project requirements, providing constructive feedback, and identifying growth opportunities.

· Implement company policies regarding recruitment, staffing, training, and account management to achieve exemplary client service and a positive workplace culture that promotes long-term staff retention.

· Foster a supportive environment for staff and collaborate with management to resolve any issues that hinder an optimal work atmosphere.

· Offer guidance and support to senior staff members to ensure they have the necessary resources to manage accounts effectively and maintain a positive work environment.

· Actively participate in executive meetings, contributing ideas and recommendations on policies, staffing, client service, and new business initiatives that influence the overall quality of the company.

· Efficiently manage all aspects of division operations.

· Oversee workflow for yourself and all assigned team members.

· Demonstrate a consistent ability to engage in problem-solving when challenges arise.

· Assist in the recruitment of new staff who are likely to become valuable long-term assets.

External Engagement

· Identify and pursue new business opportunities, participate in pitches, and assist in drafting proposals.

· Expand and renew existing client relationships.

· Maintain a robust network of contacts for business outreach and expertise.

· Develop and conduct training sessions, including regular company-wide training and specialized sessions in pool construction.

· Successfully manage multiple divisions concurrently, including overseeing work plans, client expectations, and staffing.

· Build relationships with vendors and contractors across various fields for project needs.

· Establish partnerships with like-minded firms for collaborative projects when suitable.

Financial and Administrative Duties

· Oversee budget management.

· Collaborate with leadership to develop growth and marketing strategies.

· Regularly update financial projections and manage operations to meet or exceed revenue targets.

· Identify cost-saving opportunities by enhancing internal systems and procedures.

· Review weekly schedules with the Production Manager to stay informed about ongoing projects.

· Monitor all jobs, processes, and change orders.

· Code receipts from crews and verify materials for each project.

· Manage daily time tracking and review all time entries.

· Review subcontractor billing against budgetary expectations.
