POSITION SUMMARY

The Patient Services Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for our patients, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. This role is crucial in accurately gathering and inputting patient registration details to facilitate seamless processing and payment for services provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out the following essential tasks:

  • Prepare and verify appointments for the upcoming day, ensuring all necessary information and documentation are complete, eligibility checks are performed, and patient status is correctly identified;
  • Welcome patients in a timely and professional manner;
  • Handle incoming phone inquiries with professionalism;
  • Review necessary documentation with patients to confirm accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system;
  • Collect copayments and outstanding balances accurately;
  • Execute responsibilities within the practice management system as outlined by the Patient Access Supervisor;
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient processing of patient information;
  • Reconcile daily payments with system records, ensuring accurate financial reporting;
  • Address patient follow-up needs at checkout, scheduling necessary appointments and tests;
  • Provide patients with relevant handouts, either in print or via the patient portal;
  • Uphold confidentiality standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations;
  • Maintain an organized workspace and replenish supplies as necessary;
  • Travel to various locations as required for coverage;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are essential for successful performance in this role:

  • High School Diploma is required; additional education is preferred;
  • Familiarity with medical insurance processes is advantageous;
  • Outstanding customer service abilities are essential;
  • Experience with electronic medical records and practice management systems is required;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Able to think quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment;
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a busy setting is crucial;
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel are necessary.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This position is conducted in an office environment that prioritizes safety.
  • Travel to various OrthoNY locations may be required; reliable transportation is essential.

Working hours are Monday through Friday with rotating shifts.
