Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative I to join our team at Ellis Medicine. As a Patient Access Representative I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of patients through our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct registration interviews with patients or their representatives to gather demographic and financial information required for hospital admission and/or outpatient services.
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments or self-pay from patients.
  • Accurately record and maintain patient information, including demographic and financial data.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide excellent patient care and service.
  • Provide patients with necessary forms and documentation, including the Bill of Rights and Financial Obligations Summary.
  • Review patient charts for completion and ensure accurate and timely processing of information through various systems.
  • Assign patient rooms upon arrival and monitor room availability and turnover.
  • Facilitate the gathering of accurate patient billing information and perform collections of patients with outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Receives and processes patient payments, maintaining necessary petty cash and reconciling deposit slips.
  • Communicate clearly and respond in a courteous and timely manner to patients, patients' families, and staff requests.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • One (1) year related experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.

We offer a competitive salary range of $15.08-$21.87/hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
