Position Overview: The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is actively seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist.
About the Institution: The University of Miami is recognized as one of the premier educational institutions in the United States, known for its academic rigor, exceptional medical services, and innovative research initiatives. As one of the largest private employers in the Miami-Dade area, we proudly employ over 16,000 faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer anesthesia for a broad spectrum of surgical procedures, including orthopedics, gynecology, community obstetrics, abdominal surgeries, general vascular operations, and kidney transplants. Note that generalists are not required to handle cardiac cases or treat pediatric patients under the age of two. Familiarity with regional anesthesia and the ability to anesthetize older children is advantageous.
- Supervise and mentor residents, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) effectively.
- Independently manage cases when necessary.
- Engage in the educational activities of the department, which includes teaching and mentoring medical trainees, as well as participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
- Participate in on-call duties, expected to be 3-4 overnight calls monthly, with some calls potentially being from home, including possible evening and weekend responsibilities.
- Effort distribution may vary based on departmental requirements, individual interests, and success in securing external grant funding.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a U.S. accredited residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.
- Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is required (equivalence to board certification will be assessed on a case-by-case basis).
- Research experience is not mandatory but is highly valued.
