Position Overview: The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthesia for a diverse range of surgical procedures, including orthopedic, gynecological, community obstetrics, abdominal surgeries, general vascular operations, and kidney transplants. Note that generalists are not required to handle cardiac cases or care for infants under two years old. Familiarity with regional anesthesia and the ability to anesthetize older children is advantageous.
  • Supervise residents, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) effectively.
  • Independently manage cases when necessary.
  • Engage in the academic mission of the department by teaching and mentoring trainees, as well as participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Be available for on-call duties, expected to be 3-4 overnight calls monthly (some calls may be taken from home), with potential evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Effort distribution may be adjusted based on departmental needs, individual interests, and success in securing external grant funding.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a U.S. accredited residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is required (equivalence to board certification will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Research experience is not mandatory but is highly desirable.
