Position Overview:The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is undergoing significant growth and is in search of outstanding candidates to enhance our faculty.

The Cardiothoracic division offers comprehensive perioperative care for cardiothoracic and vascular patients across two major healthcare facilities.
Our combined programs handle over 1000 cardiac surgical procedures annually, encompassing minimally invasive valve interventions, coronary artery bypass grafting, adult congenital surgeries, aortic reconstructions, and a variety of significant vascular operations.
The Miami Transplant Institute, located at a key healthcare facility, has revitalized its transplantation program, successfully performing over 100 heart and lung transplants, multi-organ transplants, and advanced support device placements in the past year.
Additionally, our division manages over 250 thoracic surgical cases, including both open and minimally invasive lung resections, mediastinal surgeries, and complex reconstructions.
Furthermore, our structural heart programs are expanding rapidly, with our division executing over 100 transcatheter aortic valve replacements, 40 mitral valve repairs, and 50 Watchman procedures last year.
Employment Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a US-accredited residency in Anesthesiology along with a year of specialized Cardiothoracic fellowship training. TEE board certification or Testamur status is mandatory. Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is also required. While research experience is not a prerequisite for application, it is highly valued.
Role Expectations:
Our Cardiothoracic faculty should be proficient in a broad spectrum of cardiothoracic procedures, in addition to general cases such as orthopedics, gynecology, ENT, abdominal surgeries, and kidney transplants.
There is no requirement to perform liver or multivisceral transplant cases or treat pediatric patients. Applicants should be comfortable supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs, and should be capable of independently managing cases when necessary.
Participation in the academic activities of the department is expected, including teaching and mentoring trainees, as well as engaging in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
On-call duties are anticipated to be from home, averaging one weekday call and one weekend call per month. The distribution of effort may vary based on departmental needs, individual interests, and success in securing external grant funding.Compensation:
Compensation will be determined based on years of experience and the assessment of professorial rank at the time of hiring.
