As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team within one of our 45 offices in the US, collaborating with over 1500 professionals and engaging directly with clients to influence the world around us.

Joining Design Group as a Senior Automation Engineer means becoming part of a team that will challenge you and facilitate your growth.

In this role, you will collaborate with industry experts to assist leading companies in addressing their most complex challenges.

You will join our Control System Integration Practice, partnering with experienced leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients with consistency and precision.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for clients.
• Design automation control systems; develop project specifications, documentation, and drawings for various high-speed and automated manufacturing processes.
• Participate in different phases of automation projects, including software configuration and testing, commissioning, installation, and start-up.
• Take accountability for complete project execution, including team leadership, SCADA design, PLC and HMI programming, and site start-up support of integrated systems.
• Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
• Troubleshoot packaging lines, process systems, and software systems.
• Successfully manage multiple project responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Make a daily impact with your skills and expertise, enhancing relationships with clients and team members.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant automation experience with HMI, SCADA, PLCs, and general control system design.
• Experience in packaging and process controls within the consumer products, life sciences, or beverage/brewery/food industries is preferred.
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5, SLC500) PLCs, PanelView/PanelviewPlus HMIs, and Industrial Communication Networks (Ethernet, EthernetI/P, DeviceNet, DH+).
• Familiarity with FactoryTalk Suite, IntellutionSuite, Wonderware Suite, and VisualBasic/C#/Java is preferred.
• Engineering consulting experience is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with clients.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform in high-pressure environments.
• Outstanding communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client meetings, training sessions, and industry-related events.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
