Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Transportation Specialist to join our team at APluscare LLC. As a key member of our Day Habilitation program, you will be responsible for safely transporting individuals to and from our facility, as well as to offsite activities and appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pick up individuals from their homes and transport them to the day habilitation facility.
  • Drop off individuals at their homes after their time at the facility has concluded.
  • Assist individuals with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transit.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized vehicle.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance issues.
  • Run errands or transport individuals to offsite activities and appointments as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents.
  • Adhere to all company policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, guardians, and staff members.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances during transit.
  • Participate in required training sessions and staff meetings.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license held for a minimum of 5 years is required.
  • Clean driving record with no points or violations in the last five (5) years is required.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of local roads and traffic patterns preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift and assist individuals as needed (up to 50 lbs).
  • Sitting for extended periods while driving.
  • Frequent entering and exiting of the vehicle.
  • Ability to operate vehicle controls and perform visual checks.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions during transit.
  • Manage potential behavioral issues or medical emergencies while maintaining vehicle safety.
  • Support and maintain all corporate policies, procedures, and quality and confidentiality standards.

Trainings:

  • Must successfully complete all mandatory DDD trainings: Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Abuse and Neglect, CPR & First Aid, Agency New Hire Orientation, Agency's approved training on handling Life-Threatening Emergencies/Danielle's Law, and other professionally based training deemed necessary by APluscare.
  • Additional training in defensive driving and wheelchair securement may be required.
