Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will engage in undergraduate instruction within the ABET accredited Engineering program, specifically focusing on Biomedical Engineering. Faculty members in the School of Engineering are expected to stay updated in their field, engage students in research initiatives, and fulfill various teaching and administrative responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate student involvement in research projects. A strong record of research and scholarly contributions is highly valued.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance the educational experience for students and engage in tasks assigned by the School of Engineering Chair.
- Deliver instruction in subjects such as Introductory Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Biomedical Instrumentation, Mechanobiology, Technical Communications, or other engineering courses as designated by the School of Engineering Chair.
- Attend chapel services as required for all regular faculty members.
- Participate in all faculty meetings and university-wide gatherings.
- Contribute to various committees at the university, college, and department levels.
- Maintain office hours totaling at least 7.5 hours weekly and be available for student consultations by appointment.
- Regularly update student grades in the course management system, ensuring transparency in grade reporting.
- Engage in assessment activities for assigned courses, including the development of assignments and rubrics, timely evaluation of student work, and course improvement initiatives.
- Assign, evaluate, and assess student work for program evaluation purposes.
- Provide academic advisement to students within the school.
- Participate in commencement ceremonies.
- Encourage student engagement in scholarly activities, including research and publication, and maintain active membership in professional organizations while attending relevant conferences.
- Submit an annual report on professional development activities to the department chair and/or college dean, detailing strategies for remaining current in both subject matter and teaching methodologies.
EDUCATION:
Essential Academic Preparation: Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Preferred Academic Preparation: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Essential Experience: Proven teaching experience in Biomedical Engineering.
Preferred Experience: Teaching, research, and publication experience in Biomedical Engineering.
