We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice Chair of Finance and Administration to join our team at the University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial resources of the department, including budgets and funds from various sources, to ensure ethical and fiduciary practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the financial resources of the department to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement internal financial system controls to ensure the integrity of all financial transactions.
- Interpret and integrate federal, state, and industry laws and policies on corporate compliance.
- Manage the research resources of the department, including grant and contract staff and processes.
- Design and implement administrative procedures for grant and contract administration.
- Manage the information requirements of the department, including academic, business, educational, and research information needs.
- Coordinate and manage the department website and links, including all aspects of department functions.
- Develop written communication materials, including department newsletters, CME brochures, and mailings.
- Coordinate and participate in public relations and/or fundraising events.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Care Administration, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, research administration, or a related field.
- Proven leadership and sophisticated communication skills.
- Experience in performing complex medical center/departmental financial analyses using personal computer software.
- Experience with clinical departments in a medical center/hospital environment.
- Experience in physician group practice operations and financial management.
- Management-level experience, preferably in an academic medical center or hospital environment.
- Supervisory and office management experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with large, highly structured personnel systems.
- Demonstrated experience in business planning, financial analysis, and/or strategic planning.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues.
