Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to serve as the Assistant to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the New York State Department of Civil Service. This is a full-time, permanent position in the Unclassified Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, including preparing and editing documents, making travel arrangements, and coordinating meetings and events.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures, including reviewing and revising existing policies and creating new ones as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units within the New York State Department of Civil Service to achieve academic and administrative goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff on academic matters, including advising on policies and procedures and providing information on academic programs and services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $62,596 to $69,000 per year, depending on experience. The New York State Department of Civil Service offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
