The Role: The Senior Vice President will oversee a team of up to four Regional Vice Presidents. This position requires strategic and operational leadership to enhance performance and efficiency, drive business development, foster relationships with stakeholders (including owners, landlords, tenants, and vendors), and achieve financial outcomes that align with the company's overarching goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Responsible for the recruitment and selection of candidates for Regional Vice President roles across the portfolio.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings focusing on coaching, conflict resolution, goal setting, quarterly evaluations, and annual reviews with direct reports.
  • Manage human resources issues effectively.
  • Facilitate onboarding, training, and mentorship for team members.
  • Guide multifamily team members toward success while holding individuals accountable for achieving results.
  • Ensure alignment of individual objectives with the broader business goals.
  • Lead change management initiatives to maximize team engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to support organizational objectives.

Client Relations

  • Develop and maintain positive, successful relationships with owners and clients, fostering open and ongoing professional interactions.
  • Exhibit visible, ethical leadership across the multifamily platform, promoting a culture of high standards and exceptional service.
  • Provide financial analysis and comparisons to ownership as needed to support performance initiatives.

Systems Oversight

  • Leverage and optimize technology solutions to extract and monitor performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify technologies and solutions that yield actionable insights, focusing on new opportunities and enhancing relationships, revenue, and overall company value.

Reporting

  • Oversee monthly financial reviews with Regional Vice Presidents to ensure properties are on track to meet budgetary goals.
  • Benchmark property performance against regional and national standards.
  • Supervise policies related to property operations.
  • Work closely with the Risk Management department to review the status of liability and property damage claims, addressing operational policies that affect risk exposure.

Financial Oversight

  • Identify and implement new business opportunities to enhance revenue potential.
  • Lead the multifamily portfolio in annual budget preparation and review, collaborating with Regional Vice President leaders to align with corporate financial objectives.
  • Analyze internal business processes related to property operations.
  • Foster a culture where financial data is utilized to assess the effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives, engaging with key stakeholders to solicit and apply suggestions for improved efficiency and revenue optimization.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement action plans for underperforming assets.
  • Monitor expense controls and initiate strategies to achieve or exceed budget targets.

Business Development and Transitions

  • Prepare responses for RFPs.
  • Engage in new business pitches and client introductory calls.
  • Conduct SWOT analyses and market comparisons.
  • Assist clients in identifying new opportunities and underwriting deals based on operational insights and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with the Transitions and Due Diligence team to assign auditors for upcoming communities and analyze assets to provide feedback to clients.
  • Participate in due diligence, preparation, and task completion for property transitions.
  • Complete RM Day Post Transition Checklist and onboard new communities.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on, inspirational leadership style.
  • Proven track record of success in leading, coaching, and mentoring teams.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in multifamily property management with a substantial portfolio.
  • Significant prior P&L responsibility.
  • Strong background in managing diverse multifamily communities.
  • Thorough understanding of multifamily property management best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency and hands-on experience with managing large and/or complex multifamily portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of financial accountability and exceeding financial and operational objectives.
  • Proven ability to drive transformative strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, organizational effectiveness, and performance management across a large team in multiple markets.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, adept at conveying complex issues to stakeholders at all levels.
