Position Summary

The Technical Support Specialist is tasked with delivering outstanding technical assistance, maintenance, installation, and training services for TOMRA's state-of-the-art food sorting machinery. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance of our solutions and enhancing customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field service operations at client locations, which encompass installation, commissioning, testing, integration, optimization, maintenance, and repair, ensuring machines operate according to specifications.
  • Perform comprehensive mechanical, electrical, electronic, and optical adjustments and setups.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, providing effective resolutions.
  • Execute preventative maintenance, including preseason and postseason services, to enhance machine performance.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries regarding machine issues, ensuring clear communication about next steps and potential costs.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, research & development, sales, and customer solution delivery teams to drive continuous improvement and identify sales opportunities.
  • Act as the customer advocate within the organization, providing feedback to improve products and services.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new Technical Support Specialists as needed.
  • Instruct and educate customers on machine operation, maintenance, and utilization.
  • Manage tools, test equipment, and technical documentation effectively.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and compliance across all operations.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of electronics and electrical assembly.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and regulations.
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Education: An Associate's degree in electrical, electronic, automation, mechanical, mechatronics, sustainable manufacturing, or industrial engineering is preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.

Work Environment

Willingness to work in various settings, including food processing plants and outdoor environments in varying temperatures.

Experience

A minimum of two years in field service and customer support, with experience in PC diagnostics and software installation preferred.
