Job Overview

This position is for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner who will collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals. The selected candidate will manage their own patient schedule and participate in surgical procedures, averaging 1.5 days per week in the operating room. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for outpatient phone consultations and inpatient care on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate patient health status, ensuring adherence to treatment plans and determining necessary diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  2. Deliver both acute and chronic care, including patient assessments, physical examinations, and administration of treatments.
  3. Manage patient inquiries and assess their concerns effectively.
  4. Respond to urgent medical situations, including performing CPR when necessary.
  5. Maintain accurate patient records and document care provided.
  6. Educate patients and their families to promote understanding and continuity of care.
  7. Assist in surgical procedures alongside physicians.
  8. Participate in hospital rounds and address patient calls after hours and on weekends.
  9. Collaborate with healthcare team members as needed.
  10. Ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications:

Certification in CPR and ACLS is required.

For Physician Assistants:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree is preferred, with graduation from an accredited physician assistant program and active or scheduled NCCPA certification.

For Nurse Practitioners:

A current Arizona Registered Nurse license and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license are required, along with certification from a recognized national certifying body.

Completion of a program covering AORN Standards for RN First Assist education is necessary for those acting as first assistants in the operating room.
