Position Summary

WSP is currently seeking a CMT Engineer for our operations. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in supporting the department manager in supervising laboratory activities, CMT field personnel, and CMT projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation of technical training initiatives, laboratory accreditation, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and materials for the Materials Practice Team.
  • Collaborate with various teams regarding technical material-related concerns.
  • Engage in ATO and construction materials testing practice coordination meetings, providing reports and other relevant inputs.
  • Communicate with field technicians to address technical and logistical requirements.
  • Contribute to the management of Construction Materials Testing initiatives, strategies, training, technology, business development, and innovation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting project plans and specifications.
  • Support the management of overall quality performance within the Materials Practice Team, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee CMT projects, including administrative duties, financial performance, and supervision of field staff.
  • Adhere to WSP's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that testing services are conducted in alignment with WSP's quality protocols efficiently.
  • Play a vital role in maintaining our company's Quality program and Construction Materials Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring laboratory processes and personnel consistently meet rigorous standards.
  • Assist the Department Manager in ensuring laboratory personnel are adequately trained, supervised, and equipped for safety.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities to guarantee timely execution in accordance with client and project requirements while adhering to company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the company Quality program and Construction Materials Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Support the Department Manager and lab staff in overseeing calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental and inter-office coordination of laboratory personnel with joint company efforts as necessary.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines for all projects, participate in pre-task planning, and report any safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards across all projects.
  • Supervise the efficient use of laboratory facilities and equipment, with the opportunity to request additional resources as needed to meet client demands.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Possession of an EIT certificate and actively pursuing licensure.
  • Preferred, but not mandatory, is 5 or more years of progressively responsible technical experience, management, and leadership in the Materials Practice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of WSP.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and results-oriented with effective prioritization and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams (Channels, SharePoint).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
  • Exemption: Exempt.
