The LPX Group Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of wastewater, water treatment, and streetscape construction initiatives from the initial planning stages through to final completion as a general contractor. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic planning, project execution, financial oversight, and technical knowledge. Project Managers at LPX Group play a vital leadership role within the organization, necessitating effective communication with both upper management and field personnel. The Project Manager must possess the ability to conceptualize the project and articulate it clearly in both verbal and written formats. Teamwork and collaboration are essential; success is achieved through collective effort.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Articulates and drives the project vision developed in partnership with the client to upper management, project teams, subcontractors, and all relevant stakeholders.
- Inspires project team members to achieve the project vision.
- Communicates project limitations and objectives effectively.
- Maintains a high standard of professionalism.
- Supervises and guides multiple Project Managers.
Planning & Scheduling
- Manages construction projects from inception to completion by creating a comprehensive project schedule that is regularly updated and shared with all subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and field staff to ensure timely project completion.
- Defines the scope of work and conducts quantity takeoffs based on engineering plans.
- Establishes subcontractor requirements and supplier scopes for review with divisional management.
- Reviews submissions to ensure compliance with specifications and drawings.
- Generates and submits Requests for Information (RFIs) to owners and engineers.
- Conducts cost analysis on various construction methodologies.
- Collaborates with field personnel to develop three-week look-ahead schedules that detail both self-performed and subcontractor tasks.
Project Execution
- Continuously evaluates projects to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards. Monitors purchasing activities to guarantee quality materials and timely delivery at competitive prices.
- Oversees justifications for change orders and inspector performance.
- Coordinates with engineers, inspectors, and client representatives to address project challenges and assists construction management in devising solutions.
- Reviews field construction activities, engineering, and other project support tasks with construction management, providing assistance to keep projects on schedule.
- Works with Superintendents to ensure subcontractor work aligns with project scope and specifications.
- Implements project policies and procedures with subcontractors.
Financial Oversight
- Responsible for monitoring and managing costs to maintain project profitability.
- Generates monthly cost-to-complete reports for division heads and company leadership.
- Ensures positive cash flow for all projects.
- Provides monthly sales projections for the duration of each project.
Technical Proficiency
- Conducts regular inspections of projects and advises supervision on work progress and quality.
- Possesses a strong understanding of various civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction techniques.
- Continuously promotes safety and assists supervision in addressing areas needing attention.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a similar role with a contractor, managing projects ranging from $5 million to $20 million.
- Previous experience as a Foreman or Superintendent on comparable projects is advantageous.
- Estimating experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets effectively.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; detail-oriented.
- Proficient in technology including MS Office Suite, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Vista.
